25 U.S. Representatives Urge Rich Products CEO to Bargain in Good Faith; Reach an Agreement

Twenty five members of the U.S. House of Representatives followed the lead of the U.S. Senate in writing to Rich Products Chairman Robert E. Rich Jr., urging the company to end the strike by Local 37 members at the Jon Donaire Desserts plant in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. by engaging in good faith bargaining.

Most of these workers are Latina women who are on strike โ€“ many with their children. We are concerned about the duration of the strike and the detrimental impact failure to reach an agreement continues to have.” wrote the Representatives.

The Congressional Representatives noted the company made more than $4 billion in revenue last year because the Local 37 workers continued to work throughout the pandemic to keep production running. Meanwhile, workers at the company’s Rich Products’ facility in Murfreesboro, Tenn. make, on average, $6 more per hour than those in Los Angeles, where the cost of living is tremendously more expensive.

We strongly urge you to continue to negotiate in good faith to achieve a reasonable bargaining agreement in this matter,” concluded the U.S. Representatives.
