08 Nov Memphis Workers Unite: Kellogg’s Workers Rally for Blues City Brewery Workers, AFSCME President Lee Saunders Visits Picket Line
On Friday, BCTGM Local 149 and Blues City Brewery workers were joined by striking Kellogg’s Local 252G members and the Memphis labor community outside the massive brewery for a rally to call attention to the worker’s fight for a first contract.
Local 149 has been working hard to achieve a first contract to help protect the workers of Blues City Brewery and address the issues they face at the massive 1.3 million-square-foot plant. Workers at the facility voted in December 2020 to join the BCTGM. Check out this Fact Sheet.
In addition to their union brothers and sisters from Local 252G, Blues’ City workers were joined at the rally by representatives of the West Tennessee AFL-CIO Labor Council, NAACP, AFSCME, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, A. Philip Randolph Institute, UAW, UFCW, United Campus Workers, CWA, Steelworkers, Teamsters and other invited community and labor leaders.
“I know the benefits and the good that comes from being a union member. We want equal rights and equal pay. I do several jobs a day, treat us like we are your family and pay us fair wages. I am speaking for us all.”
