Nabisco Strike Receives Global Support: Letter of Solidarity from German Food Workers Union

A letter of solidarity for striking Nabisco workers was sent to the International from Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststatten [Trade Union Food, Beverages and Catering Union] of Hamburg, Germany. The letter from President Guido Zeitler reads:

The Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststatten [Trade Union Food, Beverages and Catering Union] writes to express our full solidarity and support for BCTGM and its Mondelez members.
We have been informed by the IUF that Mondelez is demanding major contract concessions from BCTGM and its Nabisco members, and that BCTGM Nabisco members have, in defense of their livelihoods, gone on strike in Portland, Oregon.
We are aware that all this comes shortly after Mondelez closed two U.S. bakeries where over 1,000 hardworking BCTGM members were employed. Also, for more than a year throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Nabisco workers in Portland and other locations have been working long, hard hours, day in and day out, to produce Nabisco products families across the United States.
We wish you every success with your strike and negotiations and we are committed to any further support that Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststatten [Food, Beverages and Catering Union] can deliver to help you succeed.
