In a Show of Solidarity Local 19 Sends Face Masks to Local 58 Members

The cloth face mask has become a chance to make a fashion statement. So why not make a union fashion statement?

That is exactly what BCTGM Local 19 (Cleveland) set out to do in designing its own Bakers’ Local 19 cloth face mask to give out to union members. The local has ordered thousands of the personalized masks and are sharing the face coverings with fellow union members.

Local 58G (Toledo) members at Hometown Foods were the most recent recipients of the union-made masks. According to BCTGM International Representative Lisa Gregory, union members at the plant were thrilled to receive the Local 19 face coverings.

The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

It is critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus. CDC is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.
