Local 42’s Labor of Love: COVID-19 Relief in Atlanta

With children out of school, businesses temporarily closed, workers laid off and out of work, there has never been a time where community support and financial resources have been more badly needed.

Recognizing the desperate need within the Atlanta area, BCTGM 42 sprang into action. Pallets of union-made products from the Columbus, Ga. Hostess plant were collected to aid in the “Labor of Love” food relief effort sponsored by the United Way of Greater Atlanta.

Together with representatives from the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council, BCTGM Southern Region Vice President Zach Townsend and Local 42 officers distributed the food products as part of the COVID-19 food distribution effort in Liburn, Ga. on May 22

Joining Townsend was BCTGM International Organizer Darrell Copeland, and Local 42 Business Manager David Cooper. The event also included representatives from multiple affiliate unions and elected state officials.
