12 May Unionism Is Feminist – Thank Your Union Moms!
Itβs the eve of Motherβs Day weekend, a great time for everyone to consider the foundational and ongoing role of women in Americaβs labor movement. Without women, there would be no labor movement.
- Unionism is the best way to close the wage gap, which costs working women between $700,000 and $2 million over the course of their lifetimes.
- Americaβs labor movement is committed to ending sexual assault and other forms of gender-based violence in the workplace, which disproportionately impacts women.

- Working people in unions are dedicated to fair schedules, fair wages, good health care, paid family leave and quality, affordable child care.

Take ACTION: Paid Leave
Many kids today grow up with both parents working or with a single parent. And at some point, nearly everyone will need to take time away from work to deal with a serious personal or family illness, or to care for a new child. But too many working people donβt have access to paid leave to care for themselves or loved onesβand too many women are still paid less than men for the same work.
