Brad Schmidt, Midwest Region Vice President

Brad Schmidt was reelected to serve as the Midwest Region International Vice President by delegates to the 41st BCTGM Constitutional Convention on July 29, 2022.

 

Schmidt was elected to fill the position of Midwest Region International Vice President at the 106th session of the General Executive Board (GEB) in San Antonio, Texas, effective June 1, 2019.

 

Schmidt was appointed to serve as a Midwest Region International Representative by International President David Durkee in 2013.

 

Schmidt, the former Financial Secretary/Business Agent of Local 218 (Kansas City, Mo.), has been a member of the union since 1972 when he went to work at Frito-Lay in Topeka, Kansas. He was instrumental in organizing workers into the union in 1973. He served as shop steward from 1973 to 1977 and chief steward at the Frito-Lay plant from 1977 to 1985. He was elected to be a principal officer of BCTGM Local 218 in 1985, a position he held until April 1, 2013 when he assumed the job of International Representative.

 

Schmidt also served as the Vice President of the BCTGM Candy, Pasta, and Snack Foods Council from 1998 to 2013. As the principal officer of Local 218, he was elected to serve on the BCTGM International General Executive Board (GEB) in September 1999, a position he held until being appointed an International Representative in 2013.
