In less than two months, Superbowl 52 will be held in Minnesota. As part of the festivities, a charity called β€œTaste of the NFL” will hold a party with the rich and famous to raise money for food shelves to help β€œKick Hunger.”

Raising money for food shelves is a great cause, but β€œTaste of the NFL” Executive Director Wayne KostroskiΒ  reportedly pays workers at his Franklin Street Bakery so little that they must use these same food shelves.

Even worse, Kostroski and the bakery managers are under federal investigation for reportedly violating their employees’ federally protected workplace rightsΒ β€” including the right to form or join a union.

Please support the Franklin Street Bakery workers by contacting NFL COO Tod Leiweke and urge him to demand Wayne Kostroski either sign a labor peace agreement with Franklin Street Bakery workers, or resign from “Taste of the NFL.”

Twin Cities’ restaurateur Wayne Kostroski is co-owner of Cuisine Concepts, which owns Franklin Street Bakery. In 1992, he founded the Taste of the NFL as a way to showcase local chefs and raise money for hunger relief. But workers at the bakery, some of whom have been fired for trying to organize and become members of BCTGM Local 22, said his charity work cannot mask the poor working conditions they face.

The workers continue to fight for their right to join the BCTGM and recently held a rally to remind the community their fight continues.
