AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre Joins Local 1 Solidarity Rally

Tefere Gebre, Executive Vice President of the AFL-CIO, rallied with striking members of BCTGM Local 1 outside the Chicago Nabisco bakery today. “My heart is filled with joy to see all of the solidarity here!,” Gebre told workers.

In addition to Gebre, the Local 1 rally included families and friends of the striking Nabisco workers, as well as Bob Reiter, President of the Chicago Federation of Labor, and other labor and community supporters.

Local 1 President Donald Woods delivered a fiery speech to the crowd, drawing cheers and applause. The group then marched onto Nabisco grounds and staged a sit-down demonstration. “It was a tremendous day of solidarity. We appreciate all of the support from our labor brothers and sisters,” said Woods.
