19 Jul International Solidarity Wishes: ABVV Horval Sends Support
The BCTGM International received the following letter with a request to share with striking members of Local 218 at Frito Lay in Topeka, Kan.
ABVV HORVAL is an employee organization that represents more than 120,000 Dutch catering & food service workers, affiliated with the ABVV (General Belgian Trade Union). Like the BCTGM, it is member of the IUF, the International Union of Food & Service Workers.
The IUF Secretariat informed us that you are on strike to demand justice and dignity on the job since July 5, 2021.
We are aware that Frito-Lay Kansas plant workers are being forced to work seven days a week and up to 12 hours per shift. Frito-Lay managementโs refusal to hire more workers despite record profits is unacceptable.
We would like to convey our full support and solidarity with your ongoing strike to pursue your just claims and to defend and improve the existing rights and working conditions including a solution that promotes the well-being of workers and their families.
We wish you every success with your strike and negotiations and we are committed to any further support that the ABVV-FGTB from Belgium can deliver to help you succeed.
In solidarity,
