Biden Shows Strong Support for Working People with Endorsement of PRO Act

A week after releasing the most pro-union statement from a president in decades, President Biden issued a statement of administration policy that strongly supports the passage of the PRO Act.

The administration recognizes that the right to organize a union is a fundamental building block of the American Dream. Passing the PRO Act would strengthen and expand working peopleโ€™s ability to form and join unions. In a press release, the administration noted that unions give workers a stronger voice in the workplace so we can increase wages, improve job quality, protect job security, protect against discrimination and harassment, and protect workersโ€™ health, safety and benefits. The administration also made clear that the policy of the U.S. government, under law, is to encourage union organizing and collective bargaining.

It continued: โ€œThe Administration strongly encourages the House to pass H.R. 842, and looks forward to working with the Congress to enact this critical legislation that safeguards workersโ€™ rights to organize and bargain collectively. The PRO Act will strengthen our democracy and advance dignity in the workplace.โ€
