16 Jun Happy Father’s Day to all the Union Dads!
Five years ago, President Barack Obama started a program protecting immigrants who came to America as children. Today, thousands of hardworking aspiring citizens have been able to reach their dreams thanks to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. “We need everyone in our country to be able to live and work without fear,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.
On Father’s Day Celebrate the Power of Union Dads
- Expand paternity leave. Of companies that offered paid family leave to both parents, more than 90% said it had a neutral or positive impact on profit and performance.
- Respect the power of workers. People who join or form unions negotiate for $200 more a week compared with people working the same kind of job without a union. The difference adds up to about $10,000 a year, which can help a lot when raising a family.
