(VIDEO) Bernie Sanders Joins in Solidarity with Picketing BCTGM Local 100G Members

“We are sick and tired of the war against working families,” Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders told BCTGM Local 100G members and supporters outside the Penford Products plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sanders joined BCTGM Local 100G workers in an informational picket line, set up to highlight the workersโ€™ struggle for a fair contract. The new owner of the plant, mult-national Ingredion Inc., is proposing more than 100 concessions, which would essentially gut the union contract.

BerniePenford2 (10 of 11)Sanders decried “corporate greed,” saying: “That’s what we’re seeing here. … We have got to stand together and tell this company that greed is not acceptable.”

Local 100G President Chris Eby addressed the supporters saying, โ€œIngredion, these workers are willing to compromise on the issues but we will never compromise our values!โ€
