20 Dec Holiday Angels from Battle Creek, Mich. Deliver Joy to Locked out Families in Memphis
The holiday season embodies the spirit of giving and is a time to reflect and celebrate on all of which we are thankful. But what if you are the child or family member of a locked out Kellogg worker in Memphis, Tenn.? Well, then you have union brothers and sisters from throughout North America sending you solidarity, love and care.
On December 18, BCTGM Local 3G members from the Kellogg plant in Battle Creek, Mich. personally delivered more than 240 holiday hams to the Memphis union hall where they were distributed to every family of a locked out Local 252G member.
Additionally, the generosity of the Battle Creek members included gift cards for every child. And for those children who had a specific holiday gift request, special toys were delivered in true “Santa Style” with tremendous love and joy.
BCTGM International Vice President James Rivers witnessed the “pure and absolute joy” of one little girl being presented with a Barbie Dream House she had asked Santa to deliver.
This was the second holiday event sponsored for the locked out members of Local 252G and their families by their brothers and sisters from Kellogg locations in Omaha, Neb. and Battle Creek.
