16 Mar NLC: President Durkee Elected to Board of Trustees of National Labor College
Silver Spring, MD, March 14, 2013 – National Labor College (NLC) is pleased to announce the election of Bakery, Confectionery Tobacco and Grain Millers International Union President David B. Durkee to its Board of Trustees.
“David has been a union activist his entire life, fighting for workers and standing up to corporations. His strong leadership skills have helped guide the BCTGM through some incredibly difficult recent struggles,” said AFL-CIO President and Chairperson of the NLC Board of Trustees Richard Trumka.
“David undertands the value that educational opportunities bring to members so we are pleased to be able to work with him as we expand the degree programs we offer to our union brothers and sisters,” said NLC President Dr. Paula E. Peinovich.
The Board of Trustees is the independent governing body of NLC and works to ensure that NLC provides the highest quality education and training programs to its students while remaining fiscally responsible.
