15 Nov Global Solidarity with BCTGM Members on Strike Against Hostess
More than 3,300 union members and activists from 125 countries have signed messages of solidarity sent through the IUF to the BCTGM members on strike against Hostess Brands.
The IUF is an global federation of trade unions that represents workers employed in the agriculture, food and beverage and tobacco industries. The BCTGM is one of 336 trade unions from 120 countries that belong to the IUF, which represents more than 12 million workers. It is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Their message to the workers:
The strike at Hostess Brands is an inspiration for all workers fighting against corporate owners keen on looting companies and workers for their own enrichment.
Hostess workers and the BCTGM have been working for decades to build a decent standard of living for themselves and their families while ensuring that quality products leave the production lines. The current ownership has proven its contempt for the Hostess brand, its products, those who produce them and their consumers. After saying no to false promises, the workers are standing up to the corporate bullies and their threats and coercion.
I stand in full support of the courageous striking members of BCTGM at Hostess Brands.”
