BCTGM Takes Cause to the Valley

Locked out BCTGM Local 167G members from Moorhead, Minn. spoke to more than 100 people gathered at the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 9 in Minneapolis about the lockout of 1,300 union members by American Crystal Sugar.

BCTGM members Kevin Solum and Becki Jacobson discussed the current situation faced by the workers, answered questions and solicited support and resources for the lockout. Teams of American Crystal workers from each location of the lockout are traveling throughout the Red River Valley explaining their plight and gathering support.

The union members also attended a event sponsored by U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), and were able to meet with the Congressman to further explain the lockout and ask for his continued support and assistance. Rep. Ellison represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District and is a true champion of workers’ rights. The Congressman promised to support the locked out BCTGM members in whatever way possible.
