The Biography of Gary Oskoian

BCTGM Local 68, Business Agent/Financial Secretary-Treasurer

Gary Oskoian was born into and raised in the BCTGM International Union. His father, Gregory Oskoian, worked for A&P Bakery and served as a Business Agent and Secretary Treasurer of his local before becoming a Vice-President of the B&C International Union. In 1969, he was elected International Secretary-Treasurer and remained in that position until he passed away in 1978.

Gary got his start in the baking industry in 1978 working at Weston Baking Co.'s Thomas' English Muffin bakery in Frederick, Md. He served as a shop steward for eight of the 18 years he worked at the bakery. In 1996 Gary became the Assistant Business Agent of Local 68. In 2001, he became the Business Agent, Financial Secretary-Treasurer, a position he continues to serve proudly.

While holding down this full-time union position, Gary is very active within the community. He is currently an Executive Board member of the Baltimore Council AFL-CIO and volunteers many hours with the AFL-CIO Community Services of Baltimore.

In 2007, Gary was honored by the United Way of Central Maryland for his outstanding service and dedication to Community Services in Baltimore.
