Local 37 Members at Jon Donaire Desserts on Strike!

Fed up with a company that refuses to bargain in good faith, Local 37 members in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. went on strike in the early morning hours of November 3.

Chanting, “Sí, se puede!” outside the bakery, 140 Local 37 members say they are fed up with Jon Donaire for the company’s refusal to bargain over improved wages.

The union members make ice cream cakes, desserts and pastry products under the Jon Donaire Desserts brand at the Rich Products-owned bakery in Los Angeles County.

“We worked all the way through the pandemic because we like our jobs and we are here to do a good job. We make ice cream cakes that are sold worldwide. We want a one dollar raise. That is all we’re asking for. Just a fair wage and a contract.”
