On August 1, 1,300 BCTGM members in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa were locked out of their factories by American Crystal Sugar, which has hired non-union replacement workers to operate each location. The sides returned to the bargaining table in late October, where the company presented a repackaged offer with only minor changes.  More than 90% of the locked-out workers voted to reject the company’s second offer, standing their ground for a fair contract that maintains their hard-won benefits and protects their jobs.

What can YOU do?

1. Sign this petition telling ACS CEO Dave Berg: Don’t turn your back on the community!
2. Call on the United Way to tell CEO Dave Berg to end the lockout, or remove him from the board of Trustees.
3. Donate to the ACS Workers Lockout Fund, money that will help workers and their familites.

And the way to pay for it, as President Obama has proposed, is to restore tax fairness.  It’s time for those who can best afford it—millionaires, billionaires and profitable corporations—to pay their fair share to get America back on track.

We reject cuts in Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.  For too long, elected leaders have been focused on deficits that can be solved over time, or tried to force a false and unacceptable choice between our vital family protection programs and the essential funding needed to create and keep good jobs.
